But do I need to main him, in order to experience his development?īeast's story is the one that is the most up in the air for me. And supposevely you really get to see his character change and progress over the course of the game. Red Prince's story is apparently one of the best, alongside Lohse and Fane. Maybe a little cliche and cheesy, but none the less, probably the most relateable, yeah? Ifan's story line is the one that's most connected to the main story, so it kind of makes sense to go with him, as well as the fact that his story his probably more relatable to me as a person seeing as hes a human and his story is apparently about revenge etc. I've tried to stay as spoiler free as I can while researching / reading about the difference characters to see which would make a better main character, and which would be better as companions. That leaves me with Beast, Red Prince, and Ifan. Plus I've heard she makes a better companion because of her singing voice? lol. I've already ruled out Lohse, I just don't have much interest in playing her as a main character. So now that I've got my characters and builds picked out, the last thing I need to decide on is which to main. Lohse - Elementalist (3 in almost all schools of magic) Red Prince - Eternal Warrior (2 Hand, Warfare + Splashed other trees for CC / Utility)īeast - Juggernaut (1H + Shield, Warfare / Geo) I've decided on using following for my full party first play through. This way I'll get to compare the differences between a "normal story run" and a "Fane story run". I'm going to save Fane for a 2nd play through where I'll be using Lone Wolf. Just to know that I can try again and that it's not as bad as it sounds. So finally, after days of going back and forth trying to figure out which characters and which builds to use for my first full play through, I've decided. Not even the truth, since I could've just spoiled it myself from the wikia if I wanted. I just needed that assurance from someone. These kind of games are way more emotionally-attaching and immersive to me than other genres, so I can end up like a cat watching a bath-tub full of water if I'm caught with some other stuff on my mind. I worried a lot about whom to take, too, but in the end, if you miss someone, you can always start a side playthrough with that one character you wish you'd taken with you. If you really want to experience ALL the companion's stories, maybe think about starting a second playthrough after you've finished the first one. Choose which companions and their quests interest you the most, and take them with you, forget the others. Originally posted by Draconiya:You most likely won't ♥♥♥♥ up. I don't think they even understand what you meant in the first place. I know how it feels to have anxiety, ignore Ocsabat's post. I kind of wish I'd picked Ifan instead of Lohse, and maybe Sebille instead of the Red Prince. My current companions are Red Prince, Fane and Lohse. Lohse is similar, only once you get to Bloodmoon Island her quests get more interesting and exciting. The Red Prince can be annoying, and his story picks up slowly, but grows into one of the better ones in my opinion. Sebille is pretty cool, so is Ifan, and like someone else in this thread said, they should be taken together, unless you don't mind missing a clue and stumbling into the story scene on your own. Beast, IMO, is the least-interesting, and his quest doesn't really offer much in Act 3, I've heard. I definitely recommend Fane as a companion for your first/main playthrough, as his backstory is the key to understanding the bigger reasons and connections behind things, and has some of the most epic and, sometimes, surprising story moments in Divinity. If you could confirm to me that I'm not going to ♥♥♥♥ up any of the companion's side-quests for failing a secret requirement to their story, you'd put more than half of my mind in peace. I've very much fumbled my enjoyment by playing the tutorial for 9 times in a row, all because of the anxiety I've won by thinking on what might happen and learning to play a game of a genre I've never touched.
